Structure Fire Guts Fredericksburg Townhome Monday Evening

The Building Was Left Uninhabitable By Fire, Smoke And Water Damage
A multi-unit response corralled a structure fire on Glover Street just outside downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia.

A structure fire resulted in a multi-unit response and left a Fredericksburg residence uninhabitable late Monday evening.

First responders from Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and Stafford converged on Glover Street off of Dixon Street in the Mayfield Neighborhood at approximately 10:30 PM for a reported structure fire. Radio traffic indicated the fire originated on the first floor, possibly a crawl space, before extending to the second floor. That same traffic stated that the residents had evacuated the home before firefighters arrived.

On the scene, crews were observed working on both floors of a two story townhome with the ladder unit extended over the roof of the building. After a short time on scene, the fire was rendered under control. Firefighters then worked to remove debris from what appeared to be a heavily damaged interior.

In a Facebook post early Tuesday morning, the Fredericksburg Fire Department announced there were no injuries in the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
