The Fredericksburg Police Department has made progress in its investigation on recent online school threats.

According to a Friday news release, the department received a tip on Thursday, September 12th that led detectives to the home of a student linked to the TikTok account that posted the threatening statements. After speaking with the parents and confirming the identity of the student, officers relayed their findings to Fredericksburg City Public Schools, which police say has “taken appropriate action.”

This instance does not appear related to threats experienced by other school systems in the area.

A referral for charges has also been issued to juvenile intake. hyperbole has reached out to FPD for clarification as to what those charges may be. The story will be updated with details as they are made available.

The Fredericksburg Police Department considers this incident resolved and urges parents to monitor the social media habits and online communications of their children.
