Foode chef Joy Crump announced her candidacy for Fredericksburg City Council in Ward 2 on Friday afternoon.

A new candidate has thrown their hat into the ring of this November’s Ward 2 election.

FoodE owner and chef Joy Crump announced her plans to run for the seat on Fredericksburg’s City Council in Ward 2 on Friday afternoon. In a press release, Crump

“We must have a responsible and transparent path for the changes that will inevitably shape our City. As a member of the City Council, I will work closely with our citizens just as I always have, and help craft solutions that will serve all of us in this community,” Crump’s memo read.

The campaign statement says Crump has previously served as a board member for Downtown Greens, the Fredericksburg Area Museum and the UMW’s Women’s Colloquium. It also cites her nearly decade of work with Micah Ecumenical Ministries’ Workforce Development Program.

Crump’s candidacy joins a field in Ward 2 that also includes Continuum of Care Board Chair Christian Zammas and Tree Fredericksburg founder Anne Little. Sitting Councilman Jon Gerlach announced that he would not seek re-election in a YouTube video earlier this year.

The election will be held Tuesday, November 4th.
