Christmas came early – and on roller skates.
Ladies from the Fredericksburg Roller Derby kicked off their third annual effort to support the Quantico Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Toys Campaign with a trip to Ollie’s Bargain Outlet. Gunnery Sergeant Simon Hebert and Sergeant Vincent Mangle also tagged along to assist with shopping and toy selection.
This year’s effort focused on providing toys for infants, toddlers and children between 11-14 years of age, groups which have traditionally not received as much assistance. It’s the third year the Fredericksburg Roller Derby has supported the toy drive.
There’s still time to help.

The FRD will continue their Toys for Toys campaign this Saturday at the Toy Box Scramble Tournament, where they will feature toy-inspired teams with skaters and officials from 15 different regional leagues. The team is donating $5 from every ticket directly to Toys for Tots, in addition to 10% of the profits to the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, their 2024 charity of the year. They’ll also be collecting any donated toys from anyone interested in donating on the day of the event.
