Three separate incidents since last October are under investigation by the Fredericksburg Police Department, according to a Tuesday afternoon press release.
No link between the incidents has been established, police say.
The first incident occurred at approximately 9:00 PM on October 19, 2025 with a reported sexual assault on the Canal Path in the area between Washington Avenue and Emancipation Highway. The victim was approached and assaulted by a suspect they describe as male, between 5’4″ and 5’5″ with medium build and possibly of Middle Eastern, Hispanic or Indian descent.
A second assault on the Canal Path was reported on May 1, 2026 at approximately 9:30 PM with a victim stating they were approached and assaulted underneath the bridge on Emancipation Highway shortly after leaving the Fredericksburg Shopping Center. That suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 6’0″ tall with dark hair wearing a black hoodie with blue pants.
A third “violent assault” was reported as having occurred this past Sunday, May 31st between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM on Ficken Island. That victim stated they were approached and assaulted by an unknown male while sitting on a large rock by the river. That suspect is described as a short Hispanic male wearing a black shirt and black slide sandals.
These incidents are separate than three previously reported sexual assaults along the same Canal Path. That suspect is currently in custody awaiting trial.
All three investigations remain active. No arrests have been made.
