Preparations are almost complete for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast with the Fredericksburg NAACP.
A crowd of more than 400 is expected to fill the Fredericksburg Convention Center on Monday morning for the city’s annual MLK commemoration. The Fredericksburg NAACP will provide updates on its work over the past year, including the Career Switcher Program, which provided $7,000 to support 22 individuals in becoming licensed teachers and its pilot program for mental health professionals at the Walker-Grant Intermediate School.
Speakers include Master of Ceremonies Xavier Richardson, branch President Charlyne Jackson-Fields and Dr. Angela D. Thomas. Fredericksburg Mayor Kerry Devine will lead the event’s greeting. This year’s keynote speaker is former Congresswoman and current gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger.
