Faded And Company To Hold 24-Hour Fade-A-Thon Fundraiser

The Event Aims To Provide Barber Education Scholarships To At-Risk Youth
Local barber Antoine Carey gives a free haircut at the Central Rapphannock Regional Library in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Faded and Company is planning one gargantuan giveback in the form of the Funding Futures: 24-Hour Fade-A-Thon this Monday.

The local barbershop will be providing haircuts morning, noon and night to raise money for barber education scholarships benefitting local at-risk youth.

The Fade-A-Thon offers a “pay-what-you-can” model, meaning the suggested donation is between $25 and $45. A standard haircut is $45.

As is tradition, those in need will receive their cuts for free.

Barber and business owner Antoine Carey says that the idea for the 24-Hour Fade-A-Thon came from the “Lou Rawls Parade of Stars” telethons from the 80s.

“I wanted to hold someone’s attention for a worthy cause.”

The first ever Fade-A-Thon will field ten stations staffed by eight barbers and two stylists working six hour shifts.

Carey’s team of clippers are aiming for the Guinness Book of World Records, which is 681 haircuts in 24 hours.

“We’re looking for 700 people.”

The first-ever Fade-A-Thon will take place from Monday, June 1st at 10:00 AM through 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 2nd at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library, the location where the barbershop already gives free haircuts on the first and third Mondays of every month.
