City’s Cold Weather Shelter Operating Under Snow Emergency Plans

Both Men And Women Will Shelter At The Fredericksburg Baptist Church
Volunteers help prepare Micah Ecumenical Ministries' Cold Weather Shelter in Fredericksburg for arrivals in December of 2023.

Micah Ecumenical Ministries’ Cold Weather Shelter will be operating under snow emergency plans on Sunday evening.

The local homeless non-profit announced on Facebook that its men’s shelter will be operating out of the Fredericksburg Baptist Church (with entry on Caroline Street) tonight instead of its site at 750 Kings Highway. The women’s shelter will remain at its usual location at the church as well, with a separate entrance on Amelia Street.

A dinner service will also be made available at 5:00 PM at the Fredericksburg Baptist Church and is available for those staying at the Cold Weather Shelter this evening.

Micah Ecumenical Ministries has operated a Cold Weather Shelter for area unsheltered since 2005.

Forecasts predict snowfall starting on Sunday evening around 8:00 PM that could last until Tuesday morning, with the heaviest precipitation between 4:00 AM and 10:00 AM on Monday morning.

Micah Ecumenical Ministries advises that anyone with questions should contact Kristen Corrie at kristen@dolovewalk.net.

📌 Update (01/05/25 at 2:17 PM): Executive Servant Leader Meghann Cotter tells hyperbole that inclement weather like snow can place added expenses on the organization. Anyone that wants to help area unsheltered can shop the organization’s Amazon Wish List at amzn.to/4217Wry.
