City Will See Dual Demonstrations At Same Intersection Next Saturday

Both Local Political Parties Have Planned Rallies At The Same Location Next Saturday
Both local political parties have planned rallies at the same intersection in Fredericksburg next Saturday.

Dual demonstrations on the same day? Fredericksburg will see both local political parties rallying at the same intersection next Saturday.

The Fredericksburg GOP will be assisting the UMW College Republicans and the Fredericksburg Area Young Republicans with their “No Gerrymandering Rally” at the intersection of William Street and Blue-Grey Parkway next Saturday, March 28th from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

According to the events’s flyer, organizers are encouraging voters to cast ballots against a measure allowing the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to “restore fairness” in a special election on April 21st.

Shortly thereafter, the Fredericksburg Democratic Committee will hold its third “No Kings” protest in coordination with thousands of other groups across the country. That demonstration will take place at the same intersection later in the afternoon from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, according to the local event’s website.

Per the rally’s online description, the protest is looking to continue upon a “sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy.”

The intersection at William Street and Blue-Grey Parkway has proven popular for protests in recent months. The Fredericksburg Democratic Committee held several demonstrations at the site last year, most recently drawing a turnout in the thousands last October for a similar “No Kings”-themed protest.
