JMHS Graduates 16 Students In CNA Class

The Class Of 2024 Is The School's Largest Ever
James Monroe High School's CNA Class of 2024 in their clinical area.
All sixteen students in James Monroe High School’s CNA class graduated this year, the largest in the school’s five year history of the program.
Each student completed 68 hours of registered Medication Aide instruction and 140 hours of CNA training, which consists of 100 hours of classroom work and another 40 hours of clinical experience. That entails everything from measuring and recording a patient’s pulse or respirations to administering medication and proper “bedside manner,” or the way in nurses and doctors are expected to interact and communicate with patients.
Students celebrated their achievements last week in a ceremony at University of Mary Washington. Upon their graduation, each is considered a Certified Nursing Assistant and is eligible for hire as such in the state of Virginia.
After adding cosmetology and nursing, what’s next for Fredericksburg City Public Schools’ CTE program?
