It was double duty on a day off for deputies from the Fredericksburg Sheriff’s Office Saturday morning. They followed up the Cops and Kids Project with their inaugural Shop With A Cop For Seniors program at the Central Park Wal-Mart, treating dozens of area residents to some Christmas cheer.

Participants were given a $200 budget and paired with a deputy to escort them around the store and assist with their purchases. Food, appliances and clothes were all popular choices. Fredericksburg Sheriff Scott Foster helped work the checkout and paid for everyone’s purchases.

The event was made possible with the generous contributions of Big O Bike Shop LLC and Fredericksburg Elks Lodge 875.
