Family, friends, fellow students and members of the community all came together on Saturday evening to remember the life of slain James Monroe High School senior Jasiah Smith, assembling on the playground and basketball courts in the Mayfield neighborhood. Smith was set to graduate from James Monroe High School next month as part of the Class of 2023.

JMHS will be honoring Smith’s memory at this year’s Ceili Leahy Senior Day of Service on Thursday, April 20th by planting a tree on school grounds, followed by group work in community service-related activities.

Smith was shot and killed last Sunday. He was eighteen years old.

A search for the suspects is underway.
